Already used by over 3700 educational institutions across 60 countries, Blackboard software provides a one-stop operating center for educational efforts, combining resources that may be housed in a wide variety of facilities. Blackboard is a perfect resource for college administrators as students enrolled in the same class can instantly communicate with professors or fellow students from any computer whether on or off campus. Logging in to the system will grant a student access to a page for each class they are enrolled in for which a blackboard account has been set up. Instructors can post quizzes, readings, course and syllabus information and simple day to day updates on the course page, along with background information on the course, a class roster and grade information for the students. With busy college student schedules, and sometimes sparse college student attendance, it benefits both teacher and student to have a central web-hosted location to access a class’s most vital assignments and resources. Blackboard is by no means an excuse for students to skip class, however, rather serving as another frontier on which to hold college students accountable. Blackboard quizzes, readings and assessments can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, giving students no excuse for a lack of completion. Attendance points can still be taken, for teachers worried students will skip if Powerpoints and put online, and posted in real time so students will immediately know the impact of their decision to skip and time have to correct bad habits and trending attendance lapses before they become a major problem.Colleges and universities are not the only entities finding Blackboard’s software both relevant and applicable.
